Just for you, Ken, I added a few words (31, to be precise) to extend this bit of dialogue:

“Great gig, loved the new stuff.”
“Did you? So did Freddy – at least, he didn’t screech too much when we were rehearsing.”
“Freddy? Matt, he’s a parrot, not Simon Cowell! Well, I suppose everyone’s a critic, even when they have feathers and a beak…”

If the Parrot is a song critic he should perhaps get another word in his name

Thanks Jill – I don’t think I have time at the moment (unless I need to procrastinate, which is always likely), but I will check out that tagging some time soon!

Ken: ‘Fast Freddy’, I like. The one down the shop calls himself ‘Freddy you f**ker’ all the time, which is another word again… Although the parrot isn’t actually going to feature that much in this novel except as a song critic.

Tina – oh dear on the misreading, although you did get there in the end. I would actually love a parrot, or even a budgie, but I suspect my cats would like it even more…

I must be tired. I was just about to leave a comment congratulating you on the new feathered family member. I read the post. Thought, I wonder how a parrot will help with writing.
