NaNoWriMo 2008 #3
The first day of this year’s NaNoWrimo started well for me; after coming back from the Halloween party I was at, I wrote 361 words of my first scene in my notebook.
Then this morning, after a few good hours of kip, I drove the 70 miles to Sligo (through gorgeous scenery) to finally meet Susan, my fellow WriMo and blogger (and her daughter). We didn’t get any writing done, although we did write some more plot/character/object/place cards for the collection.
[As an aside, I've now met 8 other WriMos so far this year at meetings - although admittedly one is my team leader, and another is my best friend, though it's the first time for both; and two others are people I've done NaNoWriMo with in previous years. It's always good to meet more WriMos though, even if I was a bit disappointed at the turnout in Belfast; I'm hoping it'll be better next week.]
Didn’t get any writing done in Sligo though, and although I typed up this morning’s and added to it when I got home this evening, I’ve written nothing much since. I’m currently sitting at 650 words – which with a daily target of 1,667 just isn’t good enough.
On the other hand, the most I’ve ever written on day 1 in past years is 747 words (last year), so I’m doing about average by my standards.
Check out this useful Excel spreadsheet for a good way to track your progress!
Anyway, with another half-hour till midnight, I’m going to take my notebook to bed, away from the distractions of my computer and the internet, and try to get another 500 words down at least.

Hey, it sounds like you had a great start – don’t get discouraged, but try something – see if you can sit down two or three different times a day to write and see if you might be more productive that way? Sometimes too much output at one time stumps us for later. Use the time you are away to run character ideas, plot twists and other ideas through your head.
Good luck!!

Heyo
Your link for the report card doesn’t work. I found it by changing the end of the hyperlink from 20. to 2008.xls but probably should be fixed.
Neat spreadsheet!
