Work in Progress (11/08/08)
I managed a pathetic 485 words last week. Absolutely useless. I’m hoping to do a bit better this weekend, being in a hotel room for four nights running with not much else to do except read and watch TV. And I only have 4 books with me (of which I’ve nearly finished the first) and I don’t really watch much TV (although I’ll probably watch the Olympics highlights).
However, I have been typing up the early parts of my novel (now very tentatively entitled The Secrets of the Library), because I wrote it almost 5 years ago and there are bits I want to tighten up. It’s odd, working on something that old, it almost doesn’t feel like it doesn’t belong to me. Which is good, really - I’m quite interested in the plot again, and since no-one else is going to finish the story off for me, I’ll have to do it myself!
So the re-typing means that although I’m adding to my word count, I’m not adding vesry much. Oh well. If I can get finished by the end of October I’ll be very very happy.

Chasing words is not easy. But then I found that when I am not focusing on the counts but on the story, they seem to add up quicker.
Good luck

No editing allowed…just write write write! There are THOUSANDS of us who participate and there is a terrific support system.

Thanks Doug, but you’re preaching to the converted - this year will be my 6th NaNoWriMo, and I’m Municipal Liaison for Ireland:Elsewhere (my frequent commenter Susan being the other)! I agree though, NaNoWriMo is fabulous.

The tooth continues to give me grief, as I was forced back into the dentist’s chair for the third time in under a week to have my gum redressed. Now my mouth has the constant taste of iodine. If there’s one thing guaranteed to make me grumpy and un…
