Stuff I like on the Internet #3

Posted on Friday, July 11th, 2008 in waffle Tags: , ,

Because I haven’t done it for a while (and yep, I need a filler post), here are some things I’ve spotted round and about and wanted to share with you:

  • Joanna at Confident Writing is running another group writing project (with prizes!) on the subject of “Your Ideal Writing Weekend
  • Write in Bursts” - Hope Writes talks about how doing this can improve productivity
  • Ethics, Paid Reviews and Affliate Programs” - Men With Pens discuss some of the issues around writing (and reading) paid reviews and affiliate reviews
  • Maitri at Words, Words, Words… A Writer’s Journey shares some throughts about writing a memoir: how to write everything of your story, and then pare it down so that the reader can connect with it (I couldn’t find a way to link directly to the post, but it’s the one for Friday, July 11 2008)
  • A Thousand Words offers photos as prompts for writing - every picture is worth a thousand words, after all!

the Thousand Words site sounds good!

My old writing group had a box filled with index cards: some had a single word on them, some had a first line, others had photos or images; the game was for everyone to write a story for ten minutes, based on the prompt. A fun game when you’re stuck or just need inspiration.

So, going away for the holiday? Any plans for the weekend?

I get a four-day weekend thanks to the way my company works our Bank Holidays… so apart from avoiding the ‘hot spots’ up here, I shall be shopping for wedding shoes, doing my Sunday Scribblings, cleaning house, and maybe even doing a spot of other writing. It’d be nice, wouldn’t it?
