Quote of the Day (16/02/08)

Posted on Saturday, February 16th, 2008 in quote of the day

“Have you ever observed that we pay much more attention to a wise passage when it is quoted than when we read it in the original author?”
Phillip G. Hamerton

That’s an interesting observation, but a fairly obvious one: it’s easier to recognise the importance or greatness of a quotation when you see only the quotation itself, than when you see it surrounded by a lot of other words which may or may not have the same merit.

heh, I’ve got a pile of books with bent over pages where I was going to go back and type up the noteworthy items. I got abnout halfway through an Abraham Lincoln biography, but never published any. Good site. (came from Entrecard)

    Hmmm.
    Bookmarking interesting bits = Good
    Bending over pages = Bad
A compromise is needed. Random bits of paper? (Works for me…)
