NaNoWriMo 2006 #8
I had a successful few days while staying at my parents’ - I managed around 2,500 words a day for 4 days, which has got me caught up reasonably well.
I still need to fit in about the same daily rate right up until Thursday, but I’m finally feeling optimistic that I might make 50K; although not with days to spare like last year, and I can foresee a mad writing spate on Thursday, at least I’m almost there. Hurrah?

Still haven’t broken 30K, but I will do so tomorrow - 3 days late. Gah. I have some good days and some bad days… I’m finishing only 3.8K down tonight, which isn’t as bad as some days. There hasn’t yet been a day on which I haven’t written something, which I’m happy about at least.
I basically need to write about 2,000 a day to make it by November 30th though. That’s less than an hour a day and is totally do-able… I just need to make sure I have enough plot to keep me going!

[A slow week for reading, partially because the bedside lamp had no bulb and I was a) too lazy to replace it and b) therefore not doing any reading before turning off the light to sleep.

Quote of the Day (10/11/06)
“The point of quotations is that one can use another’s words to be insulting.”
Amanda Cross (US mystery novelist)
[Quote supplied by the Quotations Page]
This reminded me of what we did in my GCSE Physics class (i.e. at the age of 16). Our teacher, Mr Matheson, was prone to coming out with bizarre statements; we made up a collection of his best quotes (including ‘Anything sounds bad if it’s quoted out of context’), got an artistic friend to draw a front cover, printed it off, and presented him with a copy.
I think I still have mine somewhere.
It wasn’t done maliciously, but it was done mischievously.
