To begin at the beginning…
I write for a living. I also proof-read and edit. My job title is ‘Technical Writer’, but that doesn’t totally cover it. I’m a member of the official body of technical writers in the UK (the Institute of Scientific and Technical Communicators).
I write for pleasure and for insanity (c.f. National Novel Writing Month).
I read anything – novels, newspapers, advertising hoardings.
I am a natural born pedant, as deplored by 94.23% of all known friends and relations. My mother is relieved that I have a career in which I get to be as picky as possible.
I am an inveterate spotter of misplaced apostrophes.
I like languages and etymology and linguistics.
This blog is my place to ramble as I please on all aspects of anything word-related. I intend to enjoy myself.
